Silent Sleep Camera (no shutter sound, no app)
Take a photo of your sleeping child or pet in a dark bedroom without waking them. There is no shutter sound and no light. One press takes 8 frames in about a second and shows the least blurry one as “Best”. Nothing to install, and photos never leave your device.
For sleeping children and pets only. Do not photograph people without their consent.

About This Tool
The built-in camera app plays a shutter sound every time you take a photo, and on many phones sold in Japan the sound cannot be turned off even in silent mode. That click is often enough to wake a child or pet you have just got to sleep. This tool takes still frames from the live camera feed shown in the browser, so it never goes through the camera app’s capture and no shutter sound plays. The page has no code that makes any sound.
In a dark room the camera lengthens each frame’s exposure to gather light, so the slightest hand movement shows up as blur. When you press the shutter, the tool takes 8 frames 120 ms apart, shrinks each one to greyscale and compares the variance of the Laplacian (a measure of how crisp the edges are; it drops with motion blur or soft focus). The highest one is marked “Best”. The numbers in the list are relative to the Best frame (= 100). There is no face detection or editing, so if your child moved or opened their eyes, pick another frame by eye.
Each photo is a frame from video, so it has fewer pixels than a photo from the camera app (on most devices about 1,920 pixels on the long side). No flash or torch is used, and frames are not merged like a night mode. The saved JPEG contains no EXIF data such as location.
Frames are kept in your device’s memory only while this page is open. They are never sent to a server or saved to browser storage (localStorage). “Send photo” hands the photo to the app you choose. “Tell someone about this camera” shares only the page link and one line. Do not use this camera where you need someone’s permission to photograph them. The preview is always on screen and there is no way to hide it.
